Hey there.
There are two possible reasons
that you’re here on this particular page. One could be that you were trying to
get off this site and you hit the ‘Get To Know Me’ button up there by mistake. If that’s
the case, all you have to do is hit "ctrl + w", and you’re
outta here. I hope you have a great time surfing. J
The only other reason you’re
here is that you want to find out more about me.
Firstly, I’d like to thank you
for visiting my blog, taking the time to read my rather lengthy posts, and for
leaving comments if you liked my work enough.
I hope you enjoyed them, because
that’s the main reason I write what I write; so that YOU, Dear Reader, can have
something you can look forward to read when you have a few minutes of free time
to yourself.
Who am I?
Darn, I wish I could say I was Spiderman as a response to that question,
but that’s already taken, more's the pity. I’m Mathew Wordweaver, and yes, that most definitely
is a pseudonym. When I started this blog in January, 2014, I decided to do it under another
name, mostly since I didn’t expect it to pick off the way it apparently has.
I have been writing for a few
years now, but I have so far never been published. I’m a fan of medieval
fantasy, and I have in fact finished writing a trilogy under that genre a few
years ago. It was all done by hand, so unfortunately, there’s still a lot of
work to do before I can have it ready for professional editing.
This blog was to help me get
back into the habit of writing, and help me it has. I have since joined a wonderful group of writers on Facebook, and I have now set myself a target of finishing
my new book, The Legend of Charezahn, hopefully before September.
And as for what personal information about myself that I don’t mind sharing; I can say I’m 21, that and I have two sisters, one older and the other younger. Right now, I’m slaving away under a professional course on Management Accounting, and I’ll probably be done with that by the end of the year.
All I ask from you is that you enjoy
my work; and for now, I’d prefer to remain anonymous. (Who knows, the whole
mystery aura might even be what keeps you coming back…)
And one last thing. On my name.
For those of you who wonder why
an amateur like myself would be so evidently arrogant and presumptuous enough to
name himself as any kind of ‘Wordweaver’, out of all the names available out
there...
There is a reason why I chose
that very one.
I know that I’m able to string
words together well enough to make sense, and maybe even mildly entertain you
on one of my better days. That’s all good for me, but it does not make me any greater
than any of the other authors and bloggers out there, for whom I have nothing but
the highest respect.
I am far from perfect, and I know
that without a doubt. But I also know that, as sloppy and scattered as my thoughts
and words are now, I can be better; and if not now, sometime in the future. The
tag ‘Wordweaver’ signifies what I want to eventually be… its what I work towards becoming, day by slow, painstaking day.
I am perfectly aware that in
choosing such a name for myself, I have set myself up to be judged by the
highest imaginable standards. I say to you, go ahead and judge me by those
standards. I want to improve myself as much as I conceivably can, and that
certainly won’t happen if I don’t set the bar as high as possible for myself.
I have my bad days, as every
other person, and I have my good ones as well. I know that there will always be flaws in probably all of my work,
and I almost always miss them, even when they're right under the tip of my nose. Constructive criticism has always been more
important to me than praise; I'd rather have someone tell me that I have done something wrong to my face than be told its perfect and have the mistake stay there for all to see.
If there's something unpleasant that you want or have to say to be, I encourage you to go ahead and say it. Criticism can always help me improve, more than praise ever could.

I love talking to people. If you want to contact me at any
time, please do so. It would be my honor to speak to you and hear what you have to say.
If you’re on Facebook, you can
add me there, as Mathew W Weaver, and check out my page, Matt’s Ramblings and Ravings. I also happen to have a Twitter account, and you can follow me @MattWWeaver
if you feel so inclined. If you're on Goodreads, feel free to add me as Mathew W Weaver there, too.
Thank you. I really, really appreciate
that you read down all the way to this line :D Happy reading!
Wishing you a great day,
Thank you, this is a lovely post.
ReplyDeleteThank YOU for being so friendly and supporting, Mary. It has meant a lot to me :)
DeleteYou are correct about criticism vs praise. You will get there. If not, you still lived the life you chose.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Brian. The Iron Writers have been a great inspiration to me, and you even more. Thank you for everything :)
DeleteNice to meet you, Mathew. I look forward to hearing more from you.
ReplyDeleteIt's been my pleasure meeting you, Sean. And the feeling is mutual. All the very best to you :)
DeleteMy only complaint is the "hit ctrl + w". I WAS here to find out about you, but I was so gosh darn intrigued about what would happened I had to do it...and then you were gone. I had to search to find you again, but it was worth it. Nice to meet you :)
ReplyDeleteThe pleasure is all mine, Luna :)
DeleteAnd look on the bright side, at least now you can play "ctrl + w" jokes on your friends. You read it here first :D
Looking forward to getting to know you better. And thanks again :)
Awesome blog, Mat. Keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I'll try my best :D Cheers!
DeleteThis blog is incredibly entertaining! Your posts are the things that keep me sane. You are truly gifted Mat.
ReplyDeleteGods bless you.

I don't know what to say. I try my best :D
DeleteThank you :)
I followed your Twitter link to your blogspot and happy that I did. Your first chapter is terrific. Edgy, funny and suspenseful. Interesting combo. What I also like is your moniker: WordWeaver. Clearly, you're an artist. I look forward to following your blogs.
ReplyDeleteThanks loads, Herb :) That book is finally out, and that's a relief. I've been out of the blogging game for a while, and it's about time I gt back in.
DeleteThank you for leaving behind the comment! Cheers!
